About Motion Asia Pacific
The idea that an organisation can consistently exceed customer expectations originated in a Motion Asia Pacific bearings business in the 1950s.
From these beginnings, a comprehensive group of industry-focused companies has grown and continues to deliver exceptional customer value with passion. Motion Asia Pacific (Motion) is the entity that underpins the collective capability of these businesses.
Our customer value philosophy has firmly established Motion’s companies as the best-option providers of engineered products and related services for industry in Australia and New Zealand. Further, this footprint is rapidly expanding into Asia through our businesses in Indonesia and Singapore.
Motion’s group of companies sit apart from comparative competitors because of our highly skilled workforce and technical know-how combined with our customer-centricity. As a result, our customer base is deep, extensive, and solid.
Our core product lines include bearings, power transmission, sealing, fasteners, driveshafts, drives and motors, belting, fluid power, engineering services, lifting and safety equipment, tools, and maintenance products. Adding in extensions and related products, the number of our stocked lines exceeds 350,000 – equating to a presence in almost all industrial and trade sectors, from agriculture and automotive to mining and transport.
We employ over 1,600 people across 14 core businesses, with over 180 branches providing local service where and when it is needed. To drive our customer value philosophy further and to manage growth effectively, we support our sales and service operations through centralised non-customer facing functions.
We do not rest on our laurels. Continuous improvement and sustainable growth are two key strategic objectives. These are driven by Motion’s long-term investment in people, systems, processes, and new growth opportunities – kept in balance with the needs of customers.

Our Heritage
The operating companies within Motion Asia Pacific (Motion) trace their heritage back to the 1950s.
The father-son partnership of JJ Martin-Weber & RJ Martin-Weber OA established Consolidated Bearing Company Pty Ltd (CBC) in 1954 when JJ observed a need for industrial supply and services after WWII.In the 1960s CBC expanded beyond NSW’s borders and commenced opening branches in strategic locations to support industry. Interstate branches were operated with experienced bearing people and this was the hallmark of CBC’s business style – developing strong personal relationships, with a focus on expert product knowledge and excellent customer service.
The next major milestone occurred in 1984 when Bearing Service Pty Ltd (BSC), a company established in 1921, was purchased by the Martin-Weber family. JJ had started his bearing career with BSC in the 1930s, so it was with great satisfaction that the Martin-Weber family was able to acquire this business.
Throughout the 1980s and 1990s, demand for bearings and related products accelerated. The company invested in computer technology and in upgrading properties to house the ever-expanding product range, which now included power transmission.
With the new millennium, it became clear to the Martin-Weber family that the company needed more than organic growth to remain the market leader. A strategy of growth & diversification through acquisition commenced in 2002, a strategy that remains today.
In March 2017, the company, then called Inenco Group, entered a strategic partnership with Genuine Parts Company (GPC) and its subsidiary, Motion Industries. GPC acquired a 35% shareholding in Inenco Group with the option to increase that stake to 100%.
The Martin-Weber family entered the partnership with GPC to future-proof the Inenco business; to foster continued growth and to see the business prosper through further investment. The partnership gave Inenco access to new technologies, new resources, and global best practices in marketing, IT, HR, and logistics.
Importantly the Martin-Weber family was comfortable partnering with GPC because GPC’s culture was a good match for Inenco’s. Primarily it had a strong regard for its employees, a focus on exceeding customer expectations and a history of respecting the autonomy of companies it acquired.
In July 2019, the strategic partnership between Inenco & GPC evolved to a full acquisition, ending the Martin-Weber’s 65-years as sole shareholders.
Inenco’s rapid growth over the past two decades resulted in a complex structure of businesses. To simplify our portfolio and leverage our global connection with GPC and Motion Industries, Inenco Group changed its name to Motion Asia Pacific in July 2020. This is the first step towards co-branding Motion Asia Pacific (Motion) with our iconic businesses, including CBC, BSC, SAECOWilson, and Hardy Spicer, and creating one great brand that is here to stay.
